Hi Steve,
Suggest you take a look at DRA (ED: Now part of SIRSI) and Innopac.
I worked with Geac many, many years ago, have worked with DRA, and now
work with Innopac. Don't remember much about Geac, but like the others.
One thing's for sure, there's no perfect system out there. If you find
one, let me know. : - ) !!
Good luck!

Subject: AUTOMATED LIBRARY SYSTEMS / AUTOMATED ACQUISITIONS
Hello,
This is an extremely general request for help, but any advice from more
experienced Acquisitions Librarians out there would be most appreciated.
The New York Society Library is going to change Automated Library Systems in
the near future, and we have just begun the RFP process. I am fairly new to
the world of acquisitions, and thus have a limited knowledge of the various
systems out there. Given the size of our library, we do not need a system
that can handle extremely complicated budget systems, such as those in a
large academic or public libraries. We are currently using GEAC Advance. If
anyone is using a system that they like (or don't like) and can offer
endorsements or horror stories, advice, further reading information,
anything, please let me know. My e-mail address is below.
The New York Society Library is a private library with about 3,200 household
memberships. We have approximately 250,000 volumes and new acquisitions
average about 3,500 volumes annually.
