Subject: Collection development policies

Hi. I am a MLS student at SUNY-UB. I have been doing research for a
presentation on intellectual freedom and collection development. My hope
was to find specific rules that librarians use to ensure that they are not
self-censoring.  My research has only lead to multiples of the same answer;
"follow the collection development policies laid out for your library."
This sort of answer is only the outline for what i hope to present:
specific and personal rules librarians use for themselves to check their
desire to guard patrons from what said librarian finds offensive.

It would be great if you could offer up some gems.

pPease respond personally to

Thank you,
