Section)/Using Statistics for Library Presentations and Communications
Committee for a discussion session at ALA Midwinter in Washington, DC.
"Assessing the Digital Library: Report from the ARL E-Metrics
Project, Phase 1." Sunday, January 14th, 9:00-10:30
Grand Hyatt Hotel, Independence H/I Room
To address one of the vexing problems in the area of electronic
resources for libraries, the Association of Research Libraries (ARL)
began a collaborative project (under the auspices of its New Measures
Initiative)to determine how to develop statstics and performance
measures that address the delivery of networked information resources
and services.
Rush Miller (University of Pittsburgh), Sherrie Schmidt (Arizona State
University Libraries), and Marthy Kyrillidou (Association of Research
Libraries) will discuss the goals and objectives of the E-Metrics
project. A review of Phase 1 will be included in the discussion.
All ALA Midwinter Meeting attendees are invited to participate in this
timely discussion.
