Subject: ACQNET: RE - Opening day collection for a Community College branch

Hi -

Someone forwarded your query to me. I know that some of the book jobbers
offer opening day collections as a service. Take a look at Baker and
Taylor's Web site for example. That might be the easiest way to go.

Subject: Suggestions on selecting an opening day collection for a
branch community college library?

From: Sue Adler, Modesto Junior College Library

Modesto Junior College will be opening a small branch library on our west
campus in about a year. We'll have about $10,000 to spend on books for
the opening day collection. I'm a new collection development librarian.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to go about selecting an opening day
collection? I'd appreciate any ideas.

Thanks!
