This question has generated an outpouring of thoughts on the Reed
Elsevier Customers List. I hardly ever post to lists but I felt
compelled to respond because I never feel as helpless as I do when
someone asks, "How many titles of (pick a publisher) journals to we
subscribe to?"
I wondered what the Acqnet subscribers thought of Ineke's question?

Subject: Payments for ES through Vendors?
A number of our customers have expressed the preference for paying for
their electronic journals, including Science Direct, through a vendor. Not
directly to the publisher. We had to disappoint them in the case of most
Elsevier e-journals.
It is our impression that not an insignificant number of librarians wish
they could pay their Elsevier electronic journals through a vendor. Did we
hear from a select group of people, or is this indeed the sentiment?
