Technical Services Librarian/Manager -- Search reopened
Augustana College seeks a librarian excited about leading our technical
services and interlibrary loan staff (4.5 FTE) in improving the links
between our various serials, acquisitions, and interlibrary loan (ILL)
systems and our OPAC, circulation system, and reference databases. Our goal
is to form a seamless network that enables our users to determine what
materials we do and do not own and how they can get or access them. The
successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively with other library
personnel, Information Technology Services personnel, and systems staff at
QuadLinc -- our consortial online library system -- to achieve the library's
goals. She or he will also work a few hours per week on the reference desk
of the library, may teach introductory library instruction, and will
participate in library management, faculty governance, and campus life in
general. This is an excellent opportunity for a librarian seeking to
undertake a variety of projects in technical services in a supportive,
risk-taking, environment.
Required qualifications include; an MLS from an ALA accredited program or an
equivalent qualification, a commitment to the role of the library in liberal
learning, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a sense of
humor.
Desirable qualifications include experience in an academic library,
supervisory experience (not necessarily in a library), knowledge of serials,
acquisitions, and cataloging standards and operations, including USMARC,
OCLC (cataloging, ILL, union listing, and FirstSearch,) CORC, metadata and
other current trends in automation and technical services.
Some knowledge of ILL protocols, HTML, Microsoft Access, would be an
advantage. Salary varies with qualifications and experience. Excellent
