POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
	Systems/Technical Services Librarian

The School of Law Library at Southern Illinois University is accepting
applications for a Systems/Technical Services Librarian as an assistant
professor in a tenure track position. The library staff includes six
professional librarians, one administrative professional position, and 10.5
FTE civil service support staff. The library serves a law school faculty of
about 30, a law student body of 360, a university community of over 20,000,
and the legal community and general public of the entire southern Illinois
region. The library holds over 360,000 volumes and volume-equivalents, uses
OCLC and INNOPAC automated systems, and actively incorporates access to
electronic materials into its information resources and technological
solutions into its daily operations. Further information about the Library

POSITION. Systems/Technical Services Librarian, Southern Illinois
University School of Law Library, Carbondale, Illinois

QUALIFICATIONS. Required: M.L.S., M.L.I.S., M.I.S., or equivalent degree
from ALA-accredited school, completed by time of hire. Knowledge of current
cataloging standards and practices and overall technical services
operations; Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency in oral and
written communication. Preferred: Significant experience with bibliographic
and automated systems such as OCLC and INNOPAC in academic or law library
environment; proficiency with computer applications; familiarity with
metadata standards; experience with Internet and Web publishing.

RESPONSIBILITIES. Participates in management of Technical Services
Department, with primary responsibilities in areas of cataloging,
integration of electronic documents into online catalog, database
maintenance and quality control, electronic distribution of library
resources, and supervision of support staff. A complete job description is
