Information Technologies Librarian.  (search extended)  The University of
Montevallo seeks an energetic and creative librarian with expertise in
library systems and information technologies. UM is a member of the Council
of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), a national alliance of leading
liberal arts colleges, offering baccalaureate and master's degree programs
with an emphasis on high quality education and innovative teaching. Adjacent
to Birmingham, in one of the nation's fastest growing counties, Montevallo
provides attractive living in a moderate climate with ready access to
metropolitan and recreational resources.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for  maintaining and developing
the library's computer systems using a broad range of software and hardware
technologies.  This entails working collaboratively with the library staff
and faculty, the campus computing staff, and members of the university
faculty to envision and implement appropriate electronic products and
services.  In addition to serving as the Systems Administrator for the
library's Horizon online system, the Information Technologies Librarian will
lead a team charged with redesigning the library's web presence.  

We require an ALA-accredited MLS and demonstrated knowledge of current
library information technologies.   Experience working with Windows NT
and/or Horizon is strongly preferred.  Additional characteristics sought
include strong communication and organizational skills, the aptitude for
complex, analytical work, flexibility, and the ability to establish
priorities for a team to ensure that team and library goals are met.

This is a tenure track, 12-month appointment at the rank of Assistant
Professor, and it offers substantial opportunity for professional growth and
development.    Salary range begins at $35,000 and is competitive depending
upon experience.  Benefits include state retirement system and comprehensive
