POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR) is
an international organization dedicated to the collection,
preservation, and dissemination of information related to the
history and cultural heritage of Germanic settlers in the Russian
Empire and their ancestors. AHSGR headquarters are located in
Lincoln, Nebraska.
DUTIES:
The Executive Director takes direction from the Society's President
and is responsible to the Board of Directors in support of the AHSGR
mission. Duties include: day-to-day direction of the organization;
management of the human, financial, and physical resources,
including but not limited to seven staff positions, a library,
information systems technology, and data bases; and serving as a
spokesperson for AHSGR.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in a business-related
discipline or equivalent management experience, preferably with a
not-for-profit organization. Essential demonstrable skills in
written and oral communications, basic computer skills, employee
relations, and member/customer relations are expected. An
understanding and appreciation of historical and genealogical
research related to Germans from Russia is desirable as well as
experience with successful grant-writing activities. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop project plans and manage their
execution, supervise a staff, prepare financial reports, and operate
within a line item and program budget.
