My publisher's attorney offered this advice to me a couple of years ago in
putting out a tradtional "book."   I wanted to include illustrations of 
all dust jackets and covers of a particular author for illustrative purposes 
in a bibliography.   The attorney's advice was that postage size black and 
whites didn't require copyright release, larger colors did.

Use this if you feel it might apply to your case.
