Tracy - do you have anything in writing about this? When we first started
getting electronic databases, we were told we did not have to pay tax on
them. Then we were told the state policy had changed, and we have been
paying taxes on them for a number of years now. Can you tell me what
specific types of electronic material your library considers tax exempt? If
we can stop paying the considerable tax on any of these it would certainly
stretch our acquisitions budget!

I highly suggest contacting your state authority regarding your specific
institution. My library system is NOT tax exempt. I contacted our State
Department of Revenue and received a letter that I send to vendors. We do
not pay tax for "on-line information services" because the state says it is
not "tangible personal property".
