The ACRL Technical Services Interest Group focuses on the special needs
and interests of all technical services workers in academic libraries.
We are looking for speakers to present in a lightning round format at
the ALA Midwinter in Boston on Saturday, January 9, 2015 from 4:30 –
5:30 pm. Presentations should be no more than 5 minutes long.
We are especially interested in technical services in the academic
library setting (electronic resources management, acquisitions, serials,
cataloging, or other functional areas.)
Possible topics include:
* E-book licensing and accessibility / ereserves
* Workflow adjustments
* Institutional repository and Digital assess management metadata and
inoperability
* Project management skills for tech services staff
* Trends away from employing students as workflows change
* Implementing assessment tools and techniques in Technical Services
* Technical Services leadership and recruiting a new generation of TS
managers
* Reskilling Technical Services staff to address emerging area of TS
work (e.g., metadata creation for digital projects)
* Getting buy-in from faculty on collection weeding projects
