Apologies for cross-posting.

Back in 1999 I wrote a short essay "Metadata Creation -- Down and Dirty"
and placed it on my "home page." It wound up being cited in several
places at the time. When I left Princeton, that site was taken down but
it exists in the Internet Archive without the pictures. I have finally
gotten around to re-doing the pictures, or at least all but one. It was
interesting for me to reconsider this article, in light of how things
have changed--and haven't changed--in the last 15 years. Back then, we
were still in the dot.com bubble and Google was in Beta.

I have placed this article and added an update to it on my blog
http://blog.jweinheimer.net/2014/11/metadata-creation-down-and-dirty-updated.html.

Please share with others who may be interested.
