All,

You may be interested in a very short presentation I gave to a seminar
at La Sapienza (the main university in Rome) detailing some of my own
discoveries about metadata: what it means to different communities and
some of the problems I have experienced.

I made it into two parts: First is to explain what I call "BIG"
metadata, or the totality of the metadata universe, to give some kind of
basic idea of its immensity and a couple of problems adapting to it. The
second, is to illuminate a problem I have seen in "metadata" focused on
librarians and IT. I offer no solutions, but just to make people aware
of some of the problems surrounding the meaning of "metadata".

It is in English.
