Faceted Subject Access Interest Group, ALCTS Cataloging & Metadata
Management Section
Date: Saturday, June 29, 2012
Time: 4:30-5:30 PM
Location: McCormick Place Convention Center - N137
Subject Facets are key aspects of next generation catalogs and discovery
tools, but do they assist patrons in finding information and increase their
use of subject headings? Are they being actively applied in cataloging
practice?
We will be joined by Alice Peterson-Hart, co-author of "Does faceted display
in a library catalog increase use of subject headings?", to discuss her
work--co-authored and undertaken with Kathleen Bauer--in testing the use of
faceted access to Yale's Yufind catalog interface.
Our session will also have members of OCLC's FAST team who will do a brief
presentation about various agencies using FAST to support their cataloging
practices.
Please join us as we consider these and related questions.
Best,
