Web Specialist. Under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services and Systems, the Web Specialist participates in the development, design, maintenance, usability testing, and assessment of the Lydia M. Olson Library web pages using web authoring tools, and scripting and compiling languages. Also performs routine tasks to support library technology and systems.
Minimum qualifications: Associate Degree or 2 years coursework completed toward a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Management, or closely related field. A combination of work experience and another discipline/degree area may be considered.
One year work experience in web design with standards-based HTML and CSS; computer programming; and web application development. Supervisory experience. Working knowledge of web scripting and software languages including C, C++, or C#; Javascript; Java; and Python, PHP, or Perl. Ability to construct SQL queries and updates with a working knowledge of databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MS-SQL. Knowledge of a range of hardware, software, and systems, including but not limited to operating systems, software and web-based applications, APIs, device drivers, and mobile devices.
Additional desirable qualifications: Bachelor's Degree; Experience with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery; and Experience with web server software, such as Apache or IIS.
