I have a demo instance of VuFind using the new hierarchical collection features here:

http://vufind.org/collection/

It is populated with data from our VuDL instance (http://digital.library.villanova.edu).

Since this was designed to demonstrate and test the new features but was not intended for production, it has some rough edges and may be a little sluggish at times -- but hopefully it shows how things work.

There's also some documentation here which describes the index schema, among other details:

http://vufind.org/wiki/hierarchies_and_collections

I'll be happy to answer any questions if you need more details.
