Hi

I've been looking at information regarding DOIs for books.

Crossref, as you expect, have some information, and recommend that publishers allocate DOIs for both their books and the chapters within.
http://www.crossref.org/02publishers/dois_for_books.html
http://www.crossref.org/08downloads/handouts/books.pdf
http://www.crossref.org/06members/best_practices_for_books.html

However discovering DOIs for Books and Books Chapters seems not particular easy, and with no consistent method.
I couldn't find any catalogue (Worldcat, LoC, BL, etc) which displays the DOI for a book, or the DOIs for it's chapters.

Is anyone aware of any discussions about recording this information in bibliographic records (or otherwise indexing it in discovery systems)?

These seem to me like potentially useful identifiers, and something which should be easy to find. For example, here in the UK, in the forthcoming REF submission each University makes to Government (for Research funding), we are asked to (optionally) supply a DOI for each book and book chapter we supply as evidence of our research outputs.
I'd be interested in any comments
Regards
Chris
