OK, Brad suggested looking it up on Sherpa, and Emerald is NOT open
access, but does allow authors to post pre- and/or post-prints. That's
good (and Sherpa gives them a "green" rating) but it means that you
cannot cite the actual publication because neither of those will have
the necessary page numbers, and authors may not post the final,
published version. This is a minor inconvenience for an individual doing
research, but if you think about it in terms of creating a visible web
of discourse, it does make a difference. I feel like we've gone half-way
to a solution to the question of access, but not all of the way.
