In my opinion, that's a mistake -- it gives us way too many different things to support and teach -- but also, it provides too jarring a shock when a user at a 'lower' level interface needs a feature only in the 'higher' level interface. They've got to switch to an entirely different interface and learn how to use it in order to make use of that advanced feature?

In fact, I think individuals switch from needing simple to needing sophisticated on a day to day basis, back and forth, as well as throughout their 'careers'.
