Metadata Librarian Position at UNF in Jacksonville, FL

The University of North Florida Library in Jacksonville invites applications for the position of Metadata Librarian. The candidate must have demonstrated leadership ability and technical expertise to investigate and apply both traditional and innovative methods for organizing the Library's information resources. As a member of the library faculty, the successful candidate will also participate in collection development liaison activities, professional development, and service. This is a full time, non-tenure earning faculty position with rank dependent upon experience.



The position reports to the Head of Discovery Enhancement; leads in creating and editing metadata for digital collections; performs MARC cataloging of media, electronic resources, archival materials and other special formats; serves as a resource on complex cataloging and metadata standards; documents newly developed procedures; collaborates in the library liaison program as a member of the Library faculty; and participates in planning, goal-setting, identifying and resolving problems.



Required qualifications: M.L.S. or its equivalent from an ALA accredited program, familiarity with AACR2, MARC, LCSH and LC classification; knowledge of Dublin Core and XML; demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet applications such as MS Excel.



Desired qualifications: Minimum of two years professional experience in cataloging or metadata production. Familiarity with ExLibris Aleph, Connexion Client, Digitool, MarcEdit, and Digital Commons. Knowledge of RDA. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment. Experience training staff and excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong service orientation.
