Linked In: Library Data and the Semantic Web

Time: Saturday, June 25, 8:00-10:00am
Location: Morial Convention Center, Room 398

Librarians are fascinated by the potential of the Semantic Web, but it is hard to see how we transition out of MARC with so much legacy work and so much money tied up. Ross Singer and Eric Hellman will provide demonstrations of databases using RDF and MARC XML to make library data more web-friendly. The program will make the Semantic Web seem less futuristic and more immediate to our profession.
Speakers:
Eric Hellman, President and Chief Writing Officer of Gluejar, Inc. Check him out at: http://go-to-hellman.blogspot.com/ and @gluejar
Ross Singer, Interoperability and Open Standards Champion at Talis. Check him out at: http://dilettantes.code4lib.org/blog/ and @rsinger

Best,
Suzanne
