Really, it's not about "hurting people's feelings", but about getting as many viewpoints and ideas as you can from people who deal with ALL ASPECTS of the issues. And I definitely didn't assume that people would be "nipping things in the bud" because they are impracticable NOW (after all, we aren't talking about NOW .... we are talking about the future). But eventually, we (collectively) do have to determine whether some infinitely cool idea is implementable as is, or whether it needs further tweaking.
You just don't serve the "grand plan" at all well by making assumptions about the uselessness of X group in advance.
