I believe this comes from the museum community. In Cataloging Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Cultural Works and Their Images (2006), an example is given of "a portrait of the master of a manor may be linked as a pendant of a matching companion portrait of the mistress of the manor" (p. 22) In this case, the definition of a "pendant" would be "An object, figure, event, etc., that forms a match, parallel, or companion-piece to another; spec. one of a pair of pictures" (Oxford English Dictionary, s.v. "pendant, n.", definition 10.a.)

Subject: [NGC4LIB] FRBR relationships
Dear all
I don't get the concept of "Pendant" in FRBR relationships. As you know
pendant is an example of a work-to- work relationships and also
expression-to- work relationships and expression-to- expression
relationships,
Why is it an *autonomous* work or expression? Please discuss about this with
examples
I'll be grateful if someone could help me
Thanks a lot
