Job Title: Senior Manager, Technical Services Department:

Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Technical Services is responsible for managing
priorities
and allocating workflow among the Technical Services work centers within
area of
responsibility. The incumbent will work with the Director, Technical
Services -
Global to implement long-range and strategic plans for the department.
Will
lead and direct the major Technical Services projects for Coutts
Information
Services as well as champion the resolution of Technical Service issues
and
requirements, ensuring service levels, performance levels, and quality
levels
are meeting daily business requirements. The incumbent will strive to
create an
environment that fosters trust, open communication, continuous
improvement and a
collaborative team effort.
Essential Duties:
* Forecasts future workload and staffing requirements and
redirects current
backlog as appropriate.
* Ability to identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost
reduction,
communicate those through the organization and execute. Continuous
improvement
and a change agent.
* Partners with Sales, Logistics, Customer Services and other
customer-facing
units, ensuring that all critical deadlines are met and key deliverables
are on
target. Maintains statistics on process flow and productivity.
* Represents Coutts Information Services at major Sales and
RFP/RFI
presentations.
* Develops and maintains Technical Services Project plans for new
and existing
customers.
* Interpret, translate, and integrate customer cataloging and
processing
workflow requirements into Coutts Information Services workflow and
processes.
* Works with senior management to understand the volume, type of
work, and
special needs of new customers.
* Ensures quality and timeliness of service to customers through
tracking of
Technical Service standards and performance metrics. Reports out
project
progress to major customers in a timely manner.
* Participates in the strategic planning for the Library
division.
* Sets and tracks standards and performance metrics.
* Participates in the capital, expense, and process change
committees, and leads
major Technical Services projects.
* Drafts annual budgets for area of responsibility and
participates in aligning
these budgets with the sales and expense budgets for the Library
division.
* Coaches, counsels, and develops direct reports.
* Ability to train and position staff and to adjust resources in
order to meet
changing needs in volume and customers.
* Manages progressive counseling process and ensures that all
associates are
treated equally.
* Provide feedback to associates in a positive manner, which will
ultimately
drive consistent quality raise the standard provided to our customers.
* Attends book industry committees and events as required.
Other Duties:
* Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and
strategy as a
member of the management team.
* Play a significant role in long-term planning, including
initiatives geared
towards operational excellence.

* Personal computing skills including PC applications (Excel,
Word, Access and
Project) and Z39.50 client.
* Knowledge of library automation systems, bibliographic
utilities, and CD-ROM
technologies

Education and Experience:
* Master of Library Science Degree
* 10 years exp in cataloging or other library technical services
* 5 years experience working in or with major public libraries or
academic
libraries
