That's a good one, haha. [ Yet why your emoticon, in
fact ? Doesn't seem necessary, really :-). ]
But allow me to suggest ( amateur art historian that I
am ) : One could also think in terms of an alternate
metaphorical trope : an icon showing a winged lion,
holding a ... yes, book(!). That is after all the age-old
symbol of the Evangelist Marc a.k.a. Mark (MARC).
In the process, you'll also be emphasizing something
that's in general pretty hard to deny : that the library
profession and library work are actually a sort of
religion, as much as anything else ; in various ways
evangelical, even. ( Like, spreading the gospel, man. )
