Position Title: Cataloging and Digital Services Librarian-Assistant/Associate Professor, IT/Online Learning & Libraries.
Position Type: Full-time position. Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Special Note:
Qualifications: ALA accredited Masters in Library Science, three to five years of cataloging experience (preferably in an academic or research library) in a variety of formats, knowledge of current and emerging national cataloging standards (e.g. AACR2, MARC21, Library of Congress Classification, LSCH, RDA, FAST, FRBR, etc.) and familiarity with metadata standards and practices (e.g. Dublin Core, TEI, Onix, OAI-PMH, METS, EAD, etc). Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate and implement multiple projects, ability to write and carry-out policies and procedures, prior successful supervisory experience; knowledge of cataloging rules, standards, and controlled vocabularies; awareness of current issues and trends in cataloging and metadata; demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately in a service and production-oriented environment and adapt to a fast paced rapidly changing environment; demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with diverse constituencies; broad knowledge of the field of librarianship, strong commitment to enriching access to library resources and potential to meet established library criteria for promotion and retention.
Duties: Generating tradition original/copy cataloging and metadata to enable cross-collection searching for print and digital collections. Perform original cataloging in all bibliographic formats; play major role in the libraries' digital projects. Creation and development of standards for metadata for a variety of digital collections. Participate in research and instruction services (e.g. information literacy, embedded librarian, teaching freshmen seminar, etc.).
