Three librarian positions are opening at Marshall University:

Position Title: Cataloging and Digital Services Librarian-Assistant/Associate Professor, IT/Online Learning & Libraries.
Position Type: Full-time position. Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Special Note:
Qualifications: ALA accredited Masters in Library Science, three to five years of cataloging experience (preferably in an academic or research library) in a variety of formats, knowledge of current and emerging national cataloging standards (e.g. AACR2, MARC21, Library of Congress Classification, LSCH, RDA, FAST, FRBR, etc.) and familiarity with metadata standards and practices (e.g. Dublin Core, TEI, Onix, OAI-PMH, METS, EAD, etc). Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate and implement multiple projects, ability to write and carry-out policies and procedures, prior successful supervisory experience; knowledge of cataloging rules, standards, and controlled vocabularies; awareness of current issues and trends in cataloging and metadata; demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately in a service and production-oriented environment and adapt to a fast paced rapidly changing environment; demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with diverse constituencies; broad knowledge of the field of librarianship, strong commitment to enriching access to library resources and potential to meet established library criteria for promotion and retention.
Duties: Generating tradition original/copy cataloging and metadata to enable cross-collection searching for print and digital collections. Perform original cataloging in all bibliographic formats; play major role in the libraries' digital projects. Creation and development of standards for metadata for a variety of digital collections. Participate in research and instruction services (e.g. information literacy, embedded librarian, teaching freshmen seminar, etc.).

Position Title: Instruction and Research Services Librarian, IT/OLL.
Position Type: Full-time position. Appointment at Assistant Professor/Librarian II or Associate Professor/Librarian III rank and salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Special Note:
Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's degree in library science; excellent communication and presentation skills; strong commitment to promoting information literacy and instructional services; collegial teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently; ability to learn and promote new technology tools in service to our students, faculty, staff and community. Desired: Second master's; minimum of two years experience providing service in an academic setting; experience in providing information literacy and library instructional services on a college or university level; experience with innovative/emerging technologies and their application to instruction services.
Duties: Participate fully in the embedded librarian and other instructional services programs. Participate in providing research services in person and remotely including evenings and weekends on a rotation basis. Participate in creating online tutorials, learning objects and working with other emerging technologies.

Position Title: Music & Digital Services Librarian, IT/OLL.
Position Type: Full-time non-tenure track position. Rank and Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Special Note: Appointment at Assistant Professor/Librarian II or Associate Professor/Librarian III rank commensurate upon appropriate level of experience.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree with a major in music or equivalent or 2 years of experience in an academic or research library with strong academic background in music. Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate and implement multiple projects, ability to write and carry-out policies and procedures, knowledge of cataloging rules, standards, and controlled vocabularies; awareness of current issues and trends in digital services; demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately in a service and production-oriented environment and adapt to a fast paced rapidly changing environment; demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with diverse constituencies; demonstrated exceptional workplace behaviors in the execution of this specific position responsibilities. These behaviors are customer focus, collaboration, creative problem solving, continuous learning and a commitment to diversity. Preferred: Second master's degree in Music or related field; five or more years of experience working in an academic or research library; prior experience working on music cataloging or in a music library.
Duties: Perform original and copy cataloging of scores, recordings and other music resources with related authority control. Work closely wit Catalog and Digital Services Librarian to develop or revise policy and procedure for cataloging and quality control of the libraries OPAC system; work with the Technical Services Team Leader/Collection Development Librarian to select all print, digital, and media resources to support the curriculum and research needs of Marshall Music Department; under the direction of the University Librarian to plan, implement, integrate, and maintain digital service and systems; as with all librarian positions at Marshall University, this position will participate in the embedded librarian program and will offer library instruction as part of the libraries' information literacy program; participate in library, university, and professional activities as appropriate; perform other tasks and completing special projects as assigned.
