Thanks for this explanation. I suspect that when RDA becomes actual
data it will be necessary to add data elements for parts of the name.
I just looked in the work being done on FRAD and I don't see those in
FRAD either. I think this is a difference between the "cataloging"
view and the "manipulating" view - decisions vs.
indexing/display/sorting, etc. While the decisions might be different
between RDA and GND, and there will then be a gnd and an rda field
that represent those different decisions, perhaps the detailed
subfields could be coordinated so that systems could process either.
Or maybe I'm being overly optimistic. :-)
