Very interesting analysis of the many sources of MARC records and of
some of our unending inefficiencies, especially in sharing. I'll try to
find time to blog it, but basically it makes you wonder if
1) we should have local catalogs (OPACs) at all
2) a single-tiered cataloging system (everyone does the same cataloging,
from public library to research library; all works get the same
treatment from current popular novels to research materials) makes sense
