Now it's time for ethical hypothetical of the week:

Suppose someone had high performance code capable of harvesting full MARC
bibliographic records from III public access catalogs at a rate of up to
several million records per hour, without causing actual damages or
interfering with ordinary use of the system or overflowing III fixed-size
logs, and using only the services provided by the Millennium web interface
to ordinary patrons within the library. Suppose, further, that the
currently in force usage Guidelines from OCLC explicitly exempt such access
as counting as Transfers within the terms of that agreement. Further
suppose, that the recently rejected updated OCLC usuage guidelines
deliberately removed this exemption.

Would it be more ethical and/or amusing to sell the code to SkyRiver, or to
OCLC?
