I wanted to share some thoughts about Google Books and Find in Library feature with this group just to see what are your thoughts and am I missing something.

I am not sure what has happened with Google Books Find in Library feature recently.

I used to see either OCLC Search or Libraries Australia Search Results when continuing searching from Google Scholar book result page.

Now when I searched for the book titled: Library mashups : exploring new ways to deliver library data http://books.google.com.au/books?lr=&um=1&q=Library+Mashups%3A+Exploring+New+Ways+to+Deliver+Library+Data I ended up being redirected to Bibsys result page (through Find in Library) and I cannot identify why this happened nor who owns this? The holdings libraries seem to be Norwegian and that is not very useful for users located elsewhere.

The same book is held in Worldcat collection http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/420028105 and in Libraries Australia http://nla.gov.au/anbd.bib-an44475557 but I was for some reason redirected to Norwegian database.

Another issue with this is that the bottom of the result screen has various search engines provided for users to continue searching; like Google OCLC Wikipedia etc. but they don't have something similar to Worldcat location limits which is helpful to some extent.

In my view this should only show for those users accessing Google Books through Norwegian domain. This is not useful in any way to anyone else. Unless they add more search engines at the bottom at the result page redirecting searchers to their national bibliographic databases.

Google Books should be managing this in a bit more user-focused way.

By the way this book is available in Libraries Australia as well - not sure why Find in Library did not redirect me to that result: http://nla.gov.au/anbd.bib-an44475557

What are your views?
Am I too harsh on Google Books?
