Saw this post reply (agree with it!), and I just thought that I have a Marc to DC mapping question to ask:
We are creating a website featuring faculty and local author books for special occasions by extracting Marc data in Voyager and transforming it to DC for display. Does this mapping look right?
(I didn't see the table of MARC holding data to DC mapping in LC website.)
Marc field:
852$b LOCATION Relation Relation.ispartof (housing at)
Additional added fields:
Link to OPAC/library catalog Relation Relation.isbasedon (*source)
(*these are permanent links for MARC records in OPAC.)
Syndetic & local Cover image/link Relation Relation.haspart (*contained item)
(*these are images links, displaying as thumbnails with other fields, and linked to larger images.)
Thank you for any reply,
Sai

Keep in mind that the conversion from MARC to DC is inherently lossy,
and you might want to avoid considering the transformation as
"round-trip" for that reason. In other words, if you need both formats
for some reason, maintain the richer one and transform it to DC as needed.
