I think we should avoid this kind of blanket stereotype, especially when
we have real evidence to the contrary. Many librarians and library
technologists are working in highly risk-adverse organizations, and we
have seen recently how such organizations respond to innovation (read:
lcsh.info). Risk-taking has to be a part of the institutional culture,
and it has to be rewarded, not punished. Of course, there are some folks
who don't want to take risks, but we shouldn't claim that no one in the
library world wants to try out new things outside of the current norm.
