Linked data ist not about exposing library catalogues to google on some
stupid way. Its about making this data "identifiable" (and
"addressable") for any kind of use (typically OPACs totally fail on
that, there is no simple way to address a record e.g. in Pica OPACs by a
persistend URL, not to talk about real URIs, other systems are even worse).
One important use of linkable library data would be to put it in (so
called semantic) relations (links) to other data. If you have those
relations (which may be even simple hyper links without any "semantic"
assigned to them), as a nice sidestep even the evil empire aka Google
might notice them and will luckily use that data.
If library data has any value (as assumed by librarians, and I don't
challenge that) that would be one way to show it. And to justify the
incredible work that goes into cataloguing.

As you say, it's not (only) the content that is important, the relations
are important, welcome to hypertext.
But you don't want to say, library data has only poor content?
Librarians keep telling me how valuable the content of that data is...

It is, definitely.
