Oops! Sorry, keyboard shortcut sent that one a bit early.

Starting over:

Thanks very much to everyone who responded with examples of their
implementations of the GBS content; I've summarized those examples
below. Since I'm interested more in look and feel than the technical
details of the implementations, I'm including mainly links with a little
description, snipping the longer technical explanations.

Examples of OPACs that have added buttons or links for the Google
content:

Google Books and Amazon:
http://library.willamette.edu/search~S1/c?SEARCH=DF+229+.T5+J6#

Individually adapted link to Google Book Search on a full title view
page: http://opac.fh-burgenland.at/

Google Books and Google Book covers: http://cf.catalog.fcla.edu/cf.jsp/
(good sample search: bear)

Worldcat.org links to Google Books and to Amazon:
http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/777896&referer=brief_results; Worldcat
Local inherits this functionality from the Worldcat.org platform with a
slightly different presentation (UW does not have Amazon links turned on
here): see
http://uwashington.worldcat.org/oclc/777896&referer=brief_results

The next major release of Evergreen will have integrated GBS browse
available by default. You can see it in action here:
http://dev.gapines.org/opac/en-US/skin/default/xml/rresult.xml?rt=keywor
d&tp=keyword&t=shakespeare&f=at The cover art there is provided by
Syndetics, but as you can see, there are "Browse in Google Book Search"
links available for those titles that Google has available.

Simple textual links at this point on our III catalog. A few examples of
our integration: http://kentlink.kent.edu/search/Xnativism ;
http://kentlink.kent.edu/search/Xwhitman ;
http://kentlink.kent.edu/search/Xsleepy+hollow. Scroll down until you
see links: "Information at Google Books" (some content), "Preview at
Google Books" (more content, some full text), "Read at Google Books"
(full text). If you're patient enough on the Sleepy Hollow example, and
scroll down enough, you'll see all three link examples.

We've incorporated Google Books content in addition to our content from
Syndetics: http://tripod.brynmawr.edu/record=b2467484 or
http://tripod.brynmawr.edu/record=b2720408 The display of our item
records is a little off now as we have both Sydetics reviews and
LibraryThing for Libraries on trial.

At Boston College, we have implemented a link to Google book information
from the full bib record view. Our catalog is at
http://www.bc.edu/quest. We also use Syndetics, so we do not display the
cover image from Google. We recently added the link and we need to tweak
the display, but it's at the bottom of the bib information for the
moment.

We have implemented in the OPAC links to Google Books, Amazon, WorldCat,
and table of contents (this in particular derived from PALNI
bibliographic records where the contents exist). The results page shows
these links when relevant to the material. We are looking at inclusion
on full-display screens as well. Here is an example URL:
http://hickory.palni.edu:4505/F/?func=file&file_name=find-b&local_base=p
lnhup

http://phebe.bowdoin.edu/record=b1000147~S1

We have just implemented links to Google Book Search in the Swedish
National Union Catalog, LIBRIS. ... Google covers are only displayed
when no others are available. Regarding the different types of preview,
we choose to distinguish between the "partial" and "full" previews on
the one hand, and the "noview", on the other. The two former are
presented as links in the title presentation, analogue to how we present
links to freely accessible resources, whereas for books with "noview",
the Google-links are only displayed in the right column under "Search
outside LIBRIS". Some examples: "Full preview" + cover from Google:
http://libris.kb.se/bib/2174999?language=en ; "Partial preview" + cover
from Google: http://libris.kb.se/bib/4717070?language=en ; "No preview"
+ cover from Nielsen: http://libris.kb.se/bib/10361389?language=en

I hope this is helpful. Thanks again to everyone for their helpful
responses!

Best,
Hilary Kraus
