Right now in Google Book Search if you find a book and choose Find in a
Library, Worldcat will show all the holdings it knows about. Don't
worry. That works.

By being able to use the OCLC records of libraries actually providing
volumes to be scanned, Google will have the OCLC bib info including
ISBN's LCCN's, OCLC numbers. This should help to make sure when you
press Find in a Library it finds the right Worldcat record. Before,
some of the libraries had to be careful not to give Google a full OCLC
record and so they cut them down some, maybe left dates off the author
headings of left out some of the fields. That was at OCLC's request, I
think. Now GBS will just have a real OCLC record for any book they scan
and that should just make it more likely that it will link correctly to
Worldcat holdings.

That is my understanding of it.

This paragraph of the release confuses me:

Under terms of the agreement, OCLC member libraries
participating in the Google Book Search(tm) program, which makes the
full text of more than one million books searchable, may share their
WorldCat-derived MARC records with Google to better facilitate discovery
of library collections through Google.

Does this imply that only those who have provided books to be scanned
into GBS will be included --or do you think that all libraries with
WorldCat holdings for items that have been scanned into GBS will be
displayed??

Anyone have any insight into this?

"OCLC and Google Inc. have signed an agreement to exchange data that
will facilitate the discovery of library collections through Google
search services."
