Ungava is an experimental discovery layer which supports both library
catalog and article level metadata (and full-text) using Lucene as a
back-end.
See http://lab.cisti-icist.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/cistilabswiki/index.php/Ungava
While the two public prototypes include a catalog instance (Colorado
State University) and a small (30k articles) journal article
collection (NRC Research Press), we have internal instances which
include both catalog and article level metadata (and full-text) into a
single interface, at a much larger scale:
- 25 million SWETS article level metadata
- 6.4 million article level metadata and full-text of all articles
- 1 million catalog records
Ungava serves as an experimental platform on which interesting user
interface, information retrieval and information visualization are
performed. I recently (March 8 2008) presented[1] Ungava at the Next
Generation Library Interfaces Conference in Colorado, as well as past
presentations at the CNI[2] and at COlorado State University.
