Alejandro-

NCSU Libraries used the LC classification outline, which we have as an
Access database that shows class start and stop numbers, definition and
level within the hierarchy. It is generally only good down to a maximum
of 3-5 levels, which is generally fine for purposes of reducing the
number of postings within a results set to a manageable level, with
obvious exceptions like QA76, QH540-549, and the literary classes. It
is also not terribly useful in the separate national law schedules (KD,
KE, KF, etc.), so you would have to add to what is there if that is the
focus of your collection.

If you want to see an LC classification approach that is far more
granular than those based on the LC classification outline, you might
want to check out the work that has been done at Western Carolina
University for the consortium that includes WCU, Appalachian State, and
UNC-Asheville. This was built by one individual, I would say as a
labour of love, and represents a great deal of work:
http://bullpup.lib.unca.edu/scripts/lcclass/outline.htm. It is
available on the "Browse" tab from WNCLN's catalog search interface at
http://wncln.wncln.org/search/X.
