Well, it's been quite some time since this was last discussed. I'm
wondering if anyone knows of any progress in an open source for book cover
images.

Amazon.com has apparently changed its terms of service. Cover images are
now only available for sites whose primary function is to drive traffic to
Amazon for sales.

"5.1.3. You are not permitted to use Amazon Associates Web Service with any
Application or for any use that does not have, as its principal purpose,
driving traffic to the Amazon Website and driving sales of products and
services on the Amazon (Website."(
http://www.amazon.com/AWS-License-home-page-Money/b?ie=UTF8&node=3440661)

Previously, if I recall, it only required a link back. I'm wondering where
this leaves those of us who were looking to use them for our OPACs.
