[I hope this isn't too closely aligned to the other thread I've just
started]
Apple are a company well known for the work they put into their user
interfaces, and tens of millions of people use the iTunes software to
discover, download and manage their music. It seems to me that iTunes
needs to deliver functionality not dissimilar to that of a library
catalogue (as well as other stuff of course)
However, I'm not sure iTunes would measure up so well if checked against
our concepts of what an NGC should be like. Although it supports some of
the functionality (reviews, sharing lists), it does so in a very closed
environment.
Should we be looking at iTunes for inspriation for an NGC? If not, why
not?
