Actually, at the ALA meeting before the one we held in Toronto I heard
two reps of the (then-called) National Library of Canada talking about
how nice it was for us to hold the meeting in their country. I warned
them that the other possibility was that someone at ALA convention
office didn't know that Toronto wasn't in the US, or didn't consider
Canada "another country." They gave me a blank look, which is probably
just as well. I guess it's a good thing that Canadians don't realize how
few of us know there's a national border that crosses the continent.
