Clarification : Yup, my employer has not said this. My employer has a
certain set of things for me to do, I have an agenda and goals, just
like everyone else. It's when we talk about doing stuff that isn't on
that agenda this 'work in your own time' comes up as a way to squeeze
that special project in between the cracks, and, like Harvey says,
work outside the box. I'm sure this works for some, but it just
doesn't work for me, and certainly not on extra project of this
complexity which is why I think the library world needs to look at it
as it needs to be resourced.
