And so did I, to the exact same effect.
In Germany, nobody is using or will be using MARC internally
in any systems. We will ONLY be able (or have already been able
for quite a while) to ingest MARC and produce it for communication.
Of course, in our systems no-one has to input ISBD punctuation
at field borders, we haven't had anything like that from the
very beginning.
I'm saying this only to indicat that it is doable, in case there
are still some among the powers that be who believe it is not,
and therefore don't make any attempt at getting rid of this
fossilized nuisance. (OTOH, I'm also sure nobody is listening
here who could actually do anything about it.)
