I talked to some people from Wichita State about this at ALA. Apparently
their system is open-source. Hongfei Li is no longer at Wichita State,
but I assume Sai Deng and Nancy Deyoe would be happy to give you the
details.

Hongfei Li, et al. at Wichita State University Libraries have done some
impressive work in this area. They did a presentation at the 2007
Endeavor Users Group Meeting (EndUser):

  "Dynamic Map Display in WebVoyáge"
  - Hongfei Li, Library Systems Developer, Wichita State University
Libraries
  - Nancy Deyoe, Assistant Dean for Technical Services, Wichita State
University Libraries
  - Sai Deng, Metadata Librarian, Wichita State University Libraries
  See also http://libmedia.wichita.edu/lhf/map_proposal.htm

The PPT presentation is on a restricted-to-customers Ex Libris support
web site (https://support.endinfosys.com/), but if you contact one of
the authors, they'll likely send it to you. You can check out the
Wichita State University Libraries catalog at http://libcat.wichita.edu/
