Hi Joe,
I can give you a few details about our sorry effort in that direction. A
few years ago our dept part-time secretary was in the M.S. program in
Geography and was looking for a thesis topic. Bingo. She struggled with
ASP and the parsing of LC call numbers (I'll be struggling with them too
starting next week.) She also had problems with getting and
incorporating updated data, as books are constantly being shifted, as
well as mapping the odd progressions as you follow LC call numbers as
they serpentine back and across aisles. After she left, the project
basically just died.

Subject: [NGC4LIB] dynamic stacks maps?
Hello,
We are considering building a dynamic book stack map application, linked
to our catalog, that would show a color-coded map of what region of the
stacks a given book is in.
I am writing to see if anyone here has seen or developed any dynamic map
applications used for library stacks. I'd like to see some examples for
some inspiration, and I'd like to hear about any experiences that you've
all had when building these applications.
Thank you,
Joe
