ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
Auburn University Libraries invites applications for a 12 month tenure
track position as Database Enhancement Librarian.
Auburn University, Auburn, AL, is a land-grant university with an
enrollment of over 22,000 students. Auburn University Libraries, a
member of the Association of Research Libraries, has a collection of
over three million volumes and a current library materials budget of $

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Auburn University Libraries seeks a dedicated
and enthusiastic librarian to develop innovative ways of improving
access to the library’s resources, especially those in electronic form
(such as databases and digital collections). The position will work
closely with other units of the library, especially the Reference
Department and the Systems Department. In addition to activities
traditionally associated with cataloging, duties will include some
service on the reference desk. The position reports to the chair of the
Cataloging Department.
QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: An ALA-accredited MLS; willingness to work
across departmental boundaries; strong and effective interpersonal and
communication skills; potential for leadership; commitment to
excellence; flexibility, and ability to work both independently and
collaboratively; ability to adapt emerging technologies to enhance
access to library materials. DESIRED: Familiarity with traditional
cataloging practices; familiarity with emerging replacements for or
enhancements of the library catalog; and familiarity with a variety of
metadata schemas. Candidate must be able to meet eligibility
requirements to work in the US by the time appointment is scheduled to
begin and must be able to communicate effectively in English.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The salary minimum is $ 44,720, with appointment as
Librarian II/III (Assistant/Associate Professor); twelve-month tenure
track appointment; participation in state teachers' retirement
(mandatory); TIAA or other additional voluntary retirement plans
available; twenty vacation days per year; twelve days sick leave per
year; health/life/disability insurance benefits.
POSITION AVAILABLE: Immediately, beginning date is negotiable.
