Rob, the presenters at the meeting primarily talked about the licensing
restrictions on vendor-supplied records. Apparently many vendors who
supply records do not allow them to be shared. There was also a hint
(which I need to confirm when the webcast is up) that some users would
like to have the ability to receive full files from sources rather than
doing one-at-a-time record retrieval. There are reputed to be
restrictions on sharing files from LoC and OCLC, but I can't confirm
that because I've never tried to do that kind of sharing. I think that
the restrictions have to do more with making those files public (as
opposed to shipping them to a particular library partner), but it has
been a topic of discussion, perhaps on this list.
