Subject: [Cat-enrich-dev-l] RichCat (catalog record enrichment
project): announcement 5/24/07
Date: Thu, 24 May 2007 08:46:33 -0400
From: Robert Kieft <rkieft_at_haverford.edu>
Greetings, I am sending this message to librarians and others who have
taken an interest over the last couple of years in a cooperative project
to enrich catalog records with evaluative content (RichCat). We have
proceeded by fits and starts in 2005 and 2006 and have now arrived at a
point where we on the project team think we have something of interest
to report to the library community. A project update appeared in
Educause Review in the spring of 2006
( http://www.educause.edu/apps/er/erm06/erm0636.asp).
I will report to ALCTS' Technical Services Directors of Large Research
Libraries Discussion Group, who have kindly sponsored our project's
appearances on the ALA conference program, on Friday morning, 6/22/07.
On the afternoon of June 22, from 1:30-3:00, the project team will hold
a public meeting in WCC 304 (we are on the summary program under ALCTS
as Richcat subcommittee). At that time, we will talk about progress we
have made and especially about a protocol that can be used by a library
to produce simple 505 TOC.
I hope you will be able to attend and participate in the discussion.
