Just adding one point to my previous post which included a reference to
Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam.

An example of a web dedicated to an FRBR type of entity is the way that
IMDB (Internet Movie Database) handles performers.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0828310/ is the link for Cat Stevens/Yusuf
Islam as a person, and I think it serves as a good model to follow in
building the next generation catalog. I particularly like the way there
is a breakdown for his role in the various works produced: singer,
actor, composer, self, etc.

I envision a library catalog display for an author similar to this.
Works held or licensed by the library would be listed and organized in a
similar way. The web page should also allow for integration of enriched
content. I, as a user, want to see what the library has AND I want to
see what I could have. I want to see all related information to that
author. I want enriched content, and I want functions such as
interlibrary loan, links to booksellers, and to suggest purchase forms
for my library.
